Mukesh Kapila is a passionate advocate for human rights. He is also a medical doctor, humanitarian expert, and international aid diplomat. Currently a Professor at Manchester University, he has experience in over 130 countries serving in senior positions in the British Government and at the United Nations, World Health Organization, and the International Red Cross and Red Crescent. He has also been an adviser to many international organisations including the World Memory Film Project, and currently chairs the board of Minority Rights Group International. Born In India, he studied in the UK at the Universities of Oxford and London. He has been awarded the CBE for his international work and has also received the Global Citizenship Award from the Institute of Global Leadership. His dealings with many dictators and despots across the world's premier trouble spots have led him to focus on the prevention of genocide and the other most horrible crimes against humanity, as Special Representative of the Aegis Trust. His book "Against a Tide of Evil" draws on this to reveal the inside story of how the world failed the stop the first genocide of the 21st century - in Darfur - having learnt little from the failure to stop the last genocide of the 20th century - in Rwanda. Dr Kapila was active in both places and his story is a deeply personal account of what happened.Visit www.mukeshkapila.org and www.aegistrust.org
