Audience: Adult Format: Owned/Kindle When Sean Devine and Jimmy Marcus were kids, their fathers worked together at the Coleman Candy plant and carried the stench of warm chocolate back home with them. -first sentence I've had this book on my tbr since 2016 and I finally got around to reading...

God damn. It's currently past 5 in the morning and I've just finished the book. The first thing that hooked me was LeHane's ability to create characters that felt real. I can honestly say that throughout the book, I could relate to most of the characters in one way or another. This with his impeccab...

It is one of those books that keeps you sticked till the end. I recommend reading it and seeing the movie at the same time, perhaps four o five chapters of the book per 20 mins of the movie? ;) Is an interesting experience!

Once upon a time, three boys were fighting in the street when two men claiming to be plainclothes cops show up. One kid gets in the car, the others stay put, and their lives will never be the same. Decades later, Dave Boyle, the kid who got into the car, is accused of killing the daughter of Jimmy M...

Dennis Lehane likes to hurt children. It's kind of his thing. I've read most of his books now and so far, every single one contains at least allegations of child abuse. His novels are rife with child-rape, kidnapping, child-murder, and molestation. It's a character in his stories the way that Ne...

Clocking in five of his books over the past few weeks, I've begun to feel like I'm living in a sort of Dennis Lehane-land — an ineluctably dark place that is made all the more so by its striking resemblance to our own. While Sophocles and Aeschylus rarely* used blue-collar neighborhoods of Boston...

BOOK REVIEW: Great roman Noir by Nic Pizzolatto, creator of "True Detective". If you like books like Dennis Lehan's Mystic River and other non-redemptive noir novels like the classic of the genre Nightmare Alley you'll really enjoy this.Solidly written, thoughtful exploration of an anti-hero who t...

Nothing beautiful, pristine or innocent survives very long in Lehanes's world. This is one of the darkest, grittiest, most depressing crime novels you'll ever come across. But the man can write and will keep you glued to the book right to the end. My first Lehane that did not involve Kenzie and Genn...
