Welcome to the hilarious, strange, elegiac, outrageous world of David Sedaris. In Naked, Sedaris turns the mania for memoir on its ear, mining the exceedingly rich terrain of his life, his family, and his unique worldview-a sensibility at once take-no-prisoners sharp and deeply charitable. A tart-tongued mother does dead-on imitations of her young son's nervous tics, to the great amusement of his teachers; a stint of Kerouackian wandering is undertaken (of course!) with a quadriplegic companion; a family gathers for a wedding in the face of imminent death. Through it all is Sedaris's unmistakable voice, without doubt one of the freshest in American writing.

Standout stories were, Cyclops, True Detective, The Drama Bu...
I didn't finish this book. If this angers you and require my full explanation..I'll put it at the end. Sedaris follows a time-honored formula of presenting humorous slices of his life in a more or less chronological form, the only real innovation here being the melding of the classic scenes of autob...
Enjoyed this. very funny. Engaging. Will definitely place his other books on my shelf to read.
I'd give this book 3 1/2 stars...usually I round up but this time I'm rounding down just 'cause this book already has a really high rating on Goodreads (
For the most part, I found the stories in this book to be hilarious but also kind of horrific. If you don't enjoy the humor of the awkward, this is probably not a read you will enjoy.
