Namsoon Kang is professor of World Christianity and Religions at Brite Divinity School, Texas Christian University. She previously taught on the Faculty of Divinity at the University of Cambridge, UK, and Methodist Theological University, Korea. She has been actively involved in various international ecumenical organizations and movements and was a plenary speaker at the WCC 9th Assembly in Porto Alegre, Brazil in 2006. She is president of WOCATI (World Conference of Associations of Theological Institutions), coeditor of The Handbook of Theological Education in World Christianity, and an acclaimed speaker who lectures throughout the world, and is active in international ecumenical organizations and movements. Teaching, researching, and writing from interdisciplinary spaces, her particular theoretical interests are in discourses of apophatic theology/philosophy, deconstruction, postmodernism, postcolonialism, gender studies, and diaspora. Her writing on cosmopolitan theology engages recent theories of cosmopolitan rights, justice, and hospitality, especially those of Immanuel Kant, Hannah Arendt, and Jacques Derrida.
