I really wanted to like this book a whole lot more but the first half was, frankly, tedious and pedantic and the second, while it did take off a little was often vague and rambling. Perhaps I missed the point.
A weird mix, and maybe kind of a failure as a straightforward science-fiction novel--but so full of intriguing ideas, suggestive and ambiguous attention to social problems, often-dazzling wordplay, and (on occasion) compelling battle scenes....
