by Bill Maher
But I remembered being more amused, and more enlightened, reading The New, New Rules. Or maybe I just am comparing this to seeing Maher live, which is an insanely fun treat! Either way, while, yes, this made some wonderful points, and I did laugh out loud a lot, there was something missing. N...
Meh. I agree with much of his politics and got a handful of chuckles out of it. This is pretty old so most of it is very much out of date - I thought this was the newer book when I borrowed it from the library. That'll teach me to pay closer attention. Very happy I borrowed it and didn't buy it. Mah...

New Rules works as a segment on Maher's television show but not lumped into a book or audio format with nothing else. Constant "new rule" after "new rule" became tiresome and the tone of the book was rather bitter overall. So instead of being funny, as it is on TV, it was a mad rant from an angry gu...

The humor in this book did not disappoint me but it had a problem a lot of these books by comedians has. It reads like excerpts from his stand-up routine. For that, it deserves at least...

Maher's not a guy to pull punches, he tells you exactly how he feels about every little thing, and makes no bones about thinking you are an idiot if you have the temerity to disagree with him on any point. Some of his humor was m...
He came off as SUCH an asshole. Listening to him talk about sex was just bizarre. Gave me the creeps, honestly. I don't mind listening to graphic sex in detail, but listening to him just say the word sex got under my skin for whatever reason. I wouldn't quite call him a 'timid observer' either, or p...
I think this would be weird to read but it was really fun to listen to.
Bill Maher pretty much covers every topic under the sun in his new rules. Some of the pieces are very short (a couple of lines), others are a bit longer (page or two), making for a good balance. The book is a very easy read. He has an opinion, and contrary to the title, he is not timid about sharing...
