I'm a UK writer, living in Scotland, best known for my YA novels and my writing and talking about the teenage brain and adolescence. My best known YA novels are Fleshmarket and Wasted. My non-fiction book, Blame My Brain - The Amazing Teenage Brain Revealed, is used widely in schools and social service departments in many countries. A new edition and ebook version will be published in May 2013.I also write and speak about writing and publishing - for writers trying to become published, published writers trying to stay published, and writers wanting to know how to handle all the marketing and promotion that we need to do nowadays. My books for writers are Write to be Published (printed and ebook versions, published by Snowbooks), and my focused ebooks, Tweet Right - the Sensible Person's Guide to Twitter, Write a Great Synopsis, and Dear Agent - Write the Letter that Sells Your Book.I'm currently writing for a younger age group - 8-11s - and hope to be looking for a new publishing deal soon. One of my favourite activities is public speaking - especially about adolescence and the amazing teenage brain. I also love doing talks about aspects of publishing/writing or doing school events about my fiction. Do follow my blog and/or Facebook Author Page for news and to contact me.Outside reading and writing, and talking (!), I love cooking, gardening, boots and shoes, and chocolate. And friends. Not forgetting my family, of course - husband, two grown-up daughters and a dog.
