It has been nearly a year since former U.S soldier, Samuel Vesey Anderson, has returned home from Afghanistan after surviving two harsh tours of duty. Clinically depressed, disillusioned, and at a loss on what to do next, Samuel accepts his concerned parents offer to move back home with them and his two younger sisters while he continues gathering the pieces of his life off the ground. The hopes of returning to some form of normalcy and balance seems within reach. Then it occurs… On a day like any other a surreal glow raises from the east to keep the sky lit with perpetual twilight, communications swiftly fail, and the city is beset by a bizarre assortment of lethal monstrosities that are slaughtering one another just as quickly as any survivors unfortunate enough to cross their path. With his loved ones lost somewhere out amongst the chaos, Samuel embarks on a journey fraught with violence and horror in hopes of discovering his family’s whereabouts. While rushing across the city he encounters other survivors that also could use his help. Does Samuel abandon these fellow victims of the cataclysm to continue his desperate search? Or will he offer hope at the risk of his own life? In a nightmare where hope, despair, damnation and redemption all collide, Samuel is engaged in a battle he cannot afford to lose.

The main character got on my nerves with his single-minded pursuit of his family. You do find out why by the end.. This read had way too much talking that took away from the story. Not for me~
