I'm not sure how I came across this writer but I'm glad I did. This book is a collection of six engaging short stories. The titular story, The Enchanted Wanderer, is the longest and the most entertaining. It reminded me somewhat of Voltaire's Candide, but a tamed down version.This book was different...
Man is supposed to be destined to be in the church, and when he ignores destiny bad things happen. It's a pretty standard plot, but hearing it in a 19th century Russian adaptation was interesting more academically than in a "oh hey look this is a great novel" sort of way.
