When his wife suddenly ups and leaves him without warning Jared Colne is left severely depressed and agoraphobic and cuts himself off from his friends and family. Having no contact with the outside world and dependent upon alcohol and anti-depressants to get him through the day, Jared begins spying on his neighbours on Burlington Road, and soon finds himself living in a dark, fantasy world where nothing is as it seems, and as things quickly spiral out of control, Jared realises it’s not only his sanity he’s in danger of losing. Who is the pale-faced boy who watches him from beneath the lamp-post across the road? Who lurks in the shadows in the abandoned house opposite? Where does his neighbour Graham go at the dead of night? And who or what is haunting his home, filling his lonely, sleepless nights with fear and dread?
