A simple story, really, that asks "who is really the odd one?" The answer, of course, is "me". Or maybe it's "each of us." Whatever. The ducks are funny. Library copy.
I loved how this showed the different ways of being odd, how it's a matter of perception, and how it's OK. I wished a few more pages had been dedicated to their friendship, for the missing each other part to have more impact. Excellent, funny details in the illustrations.
Theodora is a prim and proper duck that likes things just so. She enjoys her routines, she likes quiet, and she doesn't like change. When she gets a new neighbor, Theodora starts to worry. Chad doesn't seem like her at all. He has messy and funny colored feathers, he has weird art in his front yard...
This story isn't actually too different from Gabe's and mine, only we're not ducks. And I'm the one who dyes my hair odd colors. Other than that, though, this could be us and I will use this book as a reason he should move out of the house and into his own place next door.I have enjoyed [a:Sara Varo...
This adorable book about being yourself but also accepting that you might stand out because of it is great for the early reader or picture book set. Such a treat!
