The plot was good and the action scenes were engaging, but the writing was a bit weird. Clancy added too much description of details that were completely unnecessary to the narrative of the story. For example he would write something like "Jack retrieved the steaks, which he'd picked up from the but...
Read this a while ago. Not as good as The Hunt For Red October (Clancy's best), but much better than some of his other ones that take WAY too long to build up to the action.
Jack Ryan takes on the IRA. Sometimes I miss the good old days when one smart and well-trained man could bring down all the forces of evil in the world.
