A brand new BBC Radio 4 full cast dramatized adaptation of Agatha Christie's novel, known to be a favorite among her own works. When Doctor Calgary visits the Argyle family, he believes he brings good news. He is there to clear the name of Jacko, who was convicted of the murder of his own mother, Rachel. But the doctor's news is not greeted with the enthusiasm he expects, and the family seems intent on resisting both his help and the investigations of Inspector Huish. When a further murder is committed, it becomes apparent that a killer is among the gathered party. With almost everyone having a motive and the means for murder, they must all be on their guard.Eschewing the traditional detective format Ordeal by Innocence examines how the innocent suffer more than the guilty when a crime goes unsolved. 4.5 Ordeal by Innocence
I really enjoyed this one a lot. I had it narrowed down to a couple of people who I thought could be the guilty party, and turns out the killer ended up being one of the people I suspected all along, but in true Christie fashion, there was a twist thrown in there that I didn't quite figure out.

‘All right. It’s your say so–and you’re sticking to it. Jacko didn’t kill her. Very well then–who did kill her? You haven’t thought about that one, have you? Think about it now. Think about it–and then you’ll begin to see what you’re doing to us all…’ I've been reading away on my Agatha Christie pr...

4.0 A stand-alone
Through this Christie reread, I've discovered that some of my favorite books are the ones where she abandons the fussy, arrogant Poirot and the cotton-wool-over-steel Miss Marple for a one-or-two-off character study of a murder. Crooked House, And Then There Were None, Towards Zero, Endless Night ha...

3.5 Ordeal by Innocence
Enjoyed this mystery by Agatha Christie even though I found the murder rather far-fetched. I couldn't determine how Dr. Calgary figured out the murderer since he didn't even have all the clues the reader had! I did like the idea that murders should be solved in order to help the innocent suspects. I...
