Penny is amazing. She is a high school hockey player - on the boy's team. While that is suitably impressive, she doesn't loose her femininity. She's still a teenage girl looking to her future and wondering what it may hold - school, sports, family......and of course boys. But being on the hockey tea...
First things first: I received an ARC of this book through NetGalley. The book is already out, so you can go and check it out. (Warning for drug abuse and drinking) This is one of the books that I didn't see coming at all. In the beginning I was so unsure if I would actually like it or not. I coul...
Short review:This was a wonderful, fantastical book. I really loved the two main characters and how they slowly, but surely, grew together. Grew to love each other. Even while both have problems. Bishop has problems with pills, even if he doesn't know it (he thinks it isn't that bad for most of the ...
Drummer Bishop Riley suffers from anxiety when in large crowds; not a good predicament for one of the stars from the world hottest rock band. To ease his tension, Bishop began popping pills to take the edge off. After overdosing on drugs, he is given an ultimatum by his mom and manager. Go to Se...
Initial reaction: Not one of the better contemporary tough subject books in its genre that I've picked up. Honestly I found it rather...boring, and while it had several parts in the right place, I just couldn't get into it. I'm going to look through it again to see if my mind changes, but honestly...
I love girl who have snarky attitude and smart words. I adore girls who re-define who they are. This story is exquisite. Plot: You have this girl, Penny who plays a tough game both on and off the field of ice hockey. She doesn’t let anyone be soft on her. Then Riley comes along. A smart kid who h...
Bishop Riley does not have a problem. Yes, he likes to take a few pills sometimes to take the edge off, but an addict wouldn’t be able to manage it, right? Even after he wakes up in a hospital, having nearly ODed on pills, he still does not see a problem, but everyone around him does and that is h...
Per my 14 year old YA reviewer:This book really brings into light the stained sides of people and how much they will strive to deny it. It does have some things to be taken into consideration if you want your children to read it, but it is a very inspiring work. When I read it I couldn’t help but fe...
3.5 starsI absolutely loved Penny. She was feisty and passionate and knows without a doubt what she wants. She can hold her own against the boys and it was refreshing to have a MC with those attributes.Bishop is cocky and delightful. He holds his own against Penny and I loved that he enjoyed pushing...
This is a cute book, with the right amount of fun and sadness. I grew to love the characters, especially Gramps and Penny.I might have rated more than 3 stars, but I think even the issue mentioned in the book is pretty serious, I just didn't feel it.
