This is one of those books that give popular nonfiction a bad name. Which is unfortunate, because what could be better than books that both educate and entertain? But Outliers embodies everything that people who sneer at the genre are talking about: its conclusions are both obvious and simplistic, i...

This was such an unexpected pleasure to listen to. The narration was fantastic. The information clear and written is such a way that I absorbed and considered the facts presented. For me that is amazing, I am easily distracted and seldom retain most information, ADHD yep. Some of the information see...

The best thing about this book is that it illuminates how privilege, dumb luck and other exogenous factors are as much an ingredient to success as is hard work. A bit short on hard research, but still a good read.

BLUF: This isn’t a self-help book, it’s an OpEd/Pop Science piece.“Success is not a random act. The Outliers is a look at what author Malcolm Gladwell thinks make a person successful. Gladwell talks about family, location and time of being born. These are all subjects that define us to the point whether we struggle getting the success or stuck at the bottom. I thought the first half of Outli...

Malcom Gladwell is a gift and a joy to read. You feel smarter after reading his writing. If there is anything to grab out of OUTLIERS, it is the example of Gladwell himself: that success isn’t an accident; it is a series of events, a bunch of hard work, and the right team. Some people claim Gladwell...

Gladwell is brilliant at exposing us to alternate (and unusual) perspectives, and in Outliers he tackles successful people -- and the environment that creates them. The rub with Gladwell's books is that he draws too many conclusions from too little real data; anecdotes and small data pools give way ...

We're about to review Malcom Gladwell's new book David and Goliath over at LitReactor.com and as it's my job to organise the reviews (if not write them all - thank goodness) I thought it would be sensible to catch up with the only book of Gladwell's I haven't yet read - Outliers And I'm glad I did...
