I listened to the Librivox audiobook version, read by Phil Chenevert. His voice still reminds me a bit of Harry from 3rd Rock from the Sun, but I really like the way he makes the characters come to life.Awesome children's book for adults ;-). Much better than the previous one in the series. I especi...

As with the first two books in this series, this one was just as fun with interesting characters and creative plot points. I loved the character of Bill/Billina (although Dorothy furthered my dislike of her by suggesting the hen should change her name). I did not like how much of a role Dorothy had,...

I like the fact that L. Frank Baum wrote this book to appeal to all of his young fans who wanted to know what happened to Dorothy and the Cowardly Lion after book two in the series. For those who have not read books 1 and 2, please note that some details below will contain spoilers about those books...

In my local book club we will be reading and discussing The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz at our June get-together. I read that one a couple years ago at the recommendation of my son, who had read it at school. I loved it. This year I have decided to read the rest of the series, 14 in all. All I can sa...

Ahh, so this is the book where we encounter many of the freakishly scary characters from the 80's film Return to Oz. I mean did anyone see that film? With the wheelers and the head swapping witch? Oh the horror and nightmares that caused in my childhood! Anyway, onto the book. It introduces a lot of...

Book 3 of the series - Dorothy is on her way to Australia when she's washed overboard during a storm with a hen who all-of-a-sudden can talk. This is her adventures with Tik-Tok through the land of Ev and, with Princess Ozma's help, they save the royal family of Ev from the evil Nome King. A good ...

After finishing 'Out of Oz', I had to read more of the original Oz books. I've heard widely varying reports about the quality of them, but I figured I'd give 'Ozma' a go. And it's a lot of fun, weird, and dark. The Nome King is diabolical, lots of gleeful rubbing of hands and entrapment while he lur...

Oddly enough, contains very little Ozma and is mostly about Dorothy’s adventures in the Land of Ev. Still, this is one of my favorites, mostly because of clever Billina. She’s opinionated and smart and she doesn’t take any sort of nonsense from anyone. Again with the mistaken identity, Billina wa...

Reading this makes me want to watch "Return to Oz" with my kids...I love the princess with changeable heads :)The only thing that bothered me in this book is Baum's odd decision to change Dorothy's speech pattern. It got very irritating.overall a fun little book.
