Book 1, in the Nell Sweeney Historical MysteriesThis is a murder mystery with an historical flavor to it is set in the post-Civil War era of the 1868, in the affluent society circles of Boston. This novel is wonderful combination of murder mystery, history and romance and one that transports us into...

The story moves with the pace of an arthritic snail. I am fed up. Nothing happens and Nell has to be the most uninteresting heroine I read in a long time. She is not even annoying. She is just so inconsequential. Maybe she would have worked better for me if there was an actual background story and...

Competent historical mystery novel, but just didn't grab me. Really fast read though. Set in Boston soon after the civil war, I found the historical aspect much more interesting than the characters or the mystery. And I'm not that much into historical fiction, so even that didn't really hold my at...

Well developed storyline with characters deserving of the readers time. If you enjoy the Victorian Era, well crafted characters, and a strong plot, you will enjoy this book. The author has a multifaceted cast of characters to intertwine in a full featured mystery in post civil war Boston.

This has to be one of the best historical romances I've ever read. Of course it takes six books to get there but its such a wonderful story I hardly minded.

Each book is a complete mystery that can stand on its own, but the characters are strong enough that you want to know more about them, which pulls you along into the next book, and the next.

I spent a few days sick, without access to many books. I had several waiting for me at the library, but no energy to go get them. So I headed to my kindle and my collection of amazon freebies, for this historical mystery set immediately after the civil war. This was a quick read, and it was comfort...

When Nell Sweeney, an Irish girl with a rather dubious (and mostly unexplained, in this book) past assists her physician employer during a difficult birth in 19th century Massachusetts, she has no idea what she is getting into. The pregnant woman is a chambermaid for a Boston Brahmin family, and th...
