When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes-a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)-who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

It is not my kind of movie at all: action adventure with a predominantly male cast. Alas, I love it.The actual writing o...
I mean, yes, there was a lot of bashing of Jaegers, but that was to be expected after having seen the movie. The truth is that this was another hit by Alex Irvine; I'd been told this was good by some people, and not to purchase it by others. When it hit the two dollar mark as a Kindle book, tho...
Fills in a lot of spaces that I wondered about after watching the movie. Also enjoyed the more in-depth treatment of side characters like Newt and Pentecost. Writing, however, seems to be full of invented technical jargon that was hard to imagine. Oh well.
My obsession with Pacific Rim knows no end. I loved the movie and I hope the book is a fine piece too.UPDATESI read the book because I wanted to relive the moments of loud boom and bang in Pacific Rim. To do that, I had to imagine it. So, to choose between book or movie? I guess in this case, it's t...
