I picked up this book at my local BAM for $6, and it's one of those rare occasions where I would have happily paid full price for a clearance rack book. Palisades Park covers the lives of the Stopka family over the course of four decades, and how the titular amusement park factors into their existen...
Liked this story, but I didn't find myself attached to these characters versus in my first two reads by him.Full review in progress.
I don't know quite what it is about Brennert's books, but I find them compelling reading. I was engrossed in both Moloka'i and Honolulu when I read them, and this was no different. The story just carries me along, and I always find his characters interesting.
