Born in Essex, England, in l929, Pam was the youngest of seven daughters. In World War ll she was one of three million evacuees moved from her coastal home to the safety of the English countryside. Her memoir about this period, "Don't Forget to Write" published in 2009, is a best seller in England. In l950 she emigrated to Canada, and has lived in Toronto since then. She is author or co-author (with husband Michael Algar) of ten books, most of them travel-related and published by international publishers. For l9 years she was contracted to write solely for Toronto's national newspaper, The Globe and Mail, which assignments took her around the world. Her travel stories have won many awards. Pam's latest book, currently being shopped by her agent, is on all aspects of aging - written with humour by someone who's been there, done that and bought the tee shirt. She and her husband Michael have three daughters and four grandchildren.
