"Parasite" is built on an intriguing, well thought through idea but not enough to sustain 504 pages. If "Parasite" had been 300 pages, I would have been on the edge of my seat. It was 504 pages and I was waiting for it to end. Actually, it didn't end. It just stopped on a big reveal that fell ...
Fills the Creepy Crawlies square I really enjoyed this trip to the world of San Francisco 2027. The science is understandable without being dumb downed and the mystery/suspense is revealed in onion-like layers. The characters are diverse group, and each serve a purpose within and to move along the...
This review was originally posted on One Curvy BloggerI knew I was going to pick up Parasite right after I finished my review for Blackout, the third and final book in the Newsflesh trilogy. It was sad to see George and Shaun go, but I was so excited to delve into a brand-new series and world from M...
Tapeworms on the brain anyone? This reminds me a lot of a zombie story, but instead of some random zombie virus there are.. worms on the brain! I enjoyed this read, but for me the first half was better then the second. Though I am not really able to say why. I guess I felt it kinda dragged on at the...

And when a reader can't do that, you better have a damn good story, world, and/or bad guy. The scientific part didn't even...
Some parts were a little slow, and I had a hard time, depending on the moments, with Sal/Sally. Sometimes she was incredibly whiny and passive, voluntarily keeping a blind eye on a couple of things that were so blatantly obvious I wonder how anyone could fool oneself that way. Fortunately, she seeme...

For as long as it took me to read this, I really enjoyed it! It wasn't perfect, but it was seriously awesome and totally believeable. Plus, I'm in love with basically anything Mira / Seanan writes ;)
The ending is a major cliff-hanger, so I'll be anxiously awaiting the next installment. The only thing I had a problem with is that [spoiler] I figured out that the tapeworm had taken over Sally's body after her car accident pretty early on, but it took Sally until the last 5 pages of the book to pu...
