Patricia Brown Glenn is an art and architectural historian living in Kansas City. After graduate school, she worked at both the Landmarks Commission and Historic Kansas City Foundation, a preservation organization. By doing architectural surveys, National Register nominations and editing an historical journal, she became concerned that children could and must be made aware of their built environment if there was to be any future for our cities. Under Every Roof was her first book written for for grades four and up. The book became very popular with both younger and older readers and has even been used at the graduate level. She was awarded a prize by the Thorpe Menn Society, surprising because up until that time no child's book had even been considered.Under Every Roof is in its third printing by John Wiley. Her second book , Discover America's Favorite Architects, is about 16 different male and female architects and landscape designers living in the US. Aimed at the same age group, this book has proved enormously popular for biography assignments on Great Americans. Glenn has a few ideas percolating on her laptop and we shall see them sooner than later!
