Patricia Kelly is the author/editor of Nursing Leadership & Management, 2012; Essentials of Nursing Leadership & Management, 2010; and is co-author/editor with Maureen Marthaler of Nursing Delegation, Setting Priorities, and Making Patient Care Assignments, 2011. Pat is Professor Emerita, Purdue University Calumet, Hammond, Indiana. She has worked as a staff nurse, school nurse, and nurse educator. Pat has traveled extensively in the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico, teaching conferences for the Joint Commission, Resource Applications, Pediatric Concepts, Kaplan, Inc., and Evolve Testing &Remediation/Health Education Systems, Inc.(HESI). Pat has served as a Disaster Volunteer for the American Red Cross. She works part time as a volunteer nurse at Old Irving Park Community Clinic, Chicago, Illinois, a free clinic staffed by a team of volunteer nurses and physicians for patients with no insurance. She also has gone with a team of health care providers to Nicaragua to deliver free health care. Pat was Director of Quality Improvement at the University of Chicago Hospitals and Clinics. She has taught at Wesley-Passavant School of Nursing, Chicago State University, and Purdue University Calumet, Hammond Indiana. Pat is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the American Nurses Association, and the Emergency Nurses Association. She is listed in Who’s Who in American Nursing, 2000 Notable American Women, and the International Who’s Who of Professional and Business Women. Pat has been licensed as an RN and worked in many states over her 50 year career as a nurse, including Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, New York, and Pennsylvania.
