As I found out after reading, this is one of the most famous and most widely-read novels of the first Australian recipient of the Nobel Prize in Literature. Patrick White could write. Look at this book, it’s about a man who you want to smack but you have to keep reading, you have to see what happens. Wonderful. It is a type of book where you can see why the author won the Nobel Prize. I am upset that I was not introduced to him in college. ...

This book had a powerful impact on me at eighteen and it is hard to admit it has flaws. Still an astonishing study of the artist's mind. White's sentences make me want to run around the room.

It’s a psychological tale, yet the thoughts and feelings of these characters seem distanced, almost intangible. Like the landscape Voss is traversing, t...

The story is such that it can be put away for a period and the theme is still entirely memorable. The secret of this is the writing, which I feel will not be palatable to modern youngsters, and the historical perspective of course.-----------------No dust cover - Pooh. As the carriage drew away from...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00mw730/Drama_on_3_The_Twyborn_Affair/BBC blurb - Eadie was no good as a mother: raising eyebrows in Edwardian Sydney society was more exciting and anyway her child kept running away.
