Paul Fleury (1969-) was born in New Haven, CT where he spent the first few years of life. Moving to Florida, he began cello studies at the age of 5. Since then he has won numerous awards, competitions, and recognitions in the field of performance. He began teaching in 1984 before graduating from high school, ending teaching during the college and military years. Mr. Fleury began teaching again in 1995 at the request of a Suzuki Academy in Gainesville, FL. From there he began teaching privately, as well as doing conducting, and group lessons with students, eventually running master classes from beginning to advanced level students on all strings. He began publishing his own technique books with his Dexterity Manual, which is now being used internationally as course material in the school and university systems. His first scale book, received rave reviews by colleagues, and the new series of scale books are forthcoming. His exotic and jazz scale books have been purchased internationally and are becoming a staple for the new generation of string musicians that are interested in mainstream and world music. In 2010, he began to republish original titles which are in the public domain for two reasons: prices were too high for music books, and much of the literature has fallen by the wayside, and is now unavailable in book form. His editions are now "Edition Fleury", self-published through Amazon, and are becoming quite popular as a cheaper route to the exact same plates being republished by the big publishing companies, with special care taken to ease of reading, purity of original parts, (fingering and bowing) and something enjoyable to look at while playing. Currently over 200 titles are available worldwide.
