I grew up in the northeast of England during The Great Leek Wars of the 1950's when small fortunes could be made by the man with the biggest leek. Somehow I got it into my head that to be a writer I should follow the example of Ernest Hemingway and be a manly man reporter and accumulate all manner of experience to equip me for authorship. Which is how I became a world class drinker. I write in various genres, the only criteria being that they are challenging and fun. I started off with techno-thrillers then built up the George Sansi series about an anglo-indian bastard detective tackling monstrous crimes in Mumbai. And they are pretty bloody good if I do say so myself. I wrote a 'magic realism' book called 'The Witch's Code' about witch detective Kate Asher with Salem P.D. - which was a lot of fun and which readers tell me they enjoyed very much. I also had to write 'The Leek Club' about 'sex, violence, betrayal and leeks' because it was burning a hole in my head. It's graphic, gritty and funny - especially to those who don't speak Geordie. Most recently I've put out the first two books in my 'Splatter Trilogy' called 'Dirty Hit' and 'Sweet kill' because I wanted to get in touch with my inner psychopath. You can check out me and my books at my web site: pauljmann.com. And I can guarantee only this - you won't be bored.
