Hey, I am Paula Lofting and I live in West Sussex in England. I'm a re-enactor of the Anglosaxon/Viking/Norman era which, apart from great personal enjoyment, it also helps me as a writer of historical fiction. I currently work as a Psychiatric nurse and thoroughly enjoy this rewarding job. I have always wanted to write and knew this from a little girl. As with many people who have ambitions, sometimes life events and other priorities take precedence over other things and it was not until I reached my forties, after many personal struggles, that I was able to realise my dream. Sons of the Wolf is my debut novel and one of a series of intended books about the years leading up to and just after the Norman Conquest. Some of my favourite contemporary authors of this genre are Bernard Cornwell, Helen Hollick,Elizabeth Chadwick and Sharon Kay Penman. My earlier influences were born of Rosemary Sutcliffe, Leon Garfield, Charles Dickens and C.S.Lewis and Mary Stewart.Recently I have enjoyed Robyn Young and Sarah Bower. I also like to read non-fictional books for research as well as primary sources when one can get hold of them. My favourite quote has to be from Shakespeare's Hamlet,"This above all: to thine own self be true,And it must follow, as the night the day,Thou canst not then be false to any man.Farewell, my blessing season this in thee!"A principle I try to follow, for if I am not content with myself, then how can I be true to others. My philosophy is that I write for me first, but if anyone cares to accompany me upon my journey into the realm of fantasy and history, then its a bonus and if anyone happens to like my work, its a double bonus. you can find my blogs athttp://paulaperuses.blogspot.co.uk/http://paulalofting-sonsofthewolf.blogspot.co.uk/http://threadstothepast.blogspot.co.uk/
