Hey, Scott Westerfield, way to hide the vegetables underneath all the cheese and potatoes! This is a really fun and funny read, and I understand why it is so popular with its audience. But underneath the humor and the suspense, Mr. Westerfield has injected a healthy dose of science. There i...
This book was strange but good. The biology major part of me was intrigued by the idea that there could be a biological explanation for vampirism and was fascinated by all of the detailed descriptions of parasites (many of which I learned about in zoology class).
This is an interesting take on the vampire legend. In this book, they call "vampires" peeps. They are not supernatural beings, but rather people infected with a parasite that causes cannibalism. The main character, Cal is a carrier but not infected himself. He works for a centuries old group called ...
Sex/language. Not engaged by characters or plot. Not a bad idea/ science + vampires + virus. Just not my book and not one I would personally recommend.
Wow. I certainly know a lot more about parasites now! This was definitely a page-turner. I couldn't put it down. I'm freaking out over a major exam but I didn't study because I had to finish this novel. Scott Westerfeld certainly knows how to spin prose along. Beautiful descriptions, and a voi...

Loved it! SUCH a great book. I really love Westerfeld's writing, and this is such an interesting take on the vampire myth. Also, every other chapter is devoted to telling the reader about different parasites, not only some that affect humans, but also cows, ants, and a bunch of other unsuspecting cr...
Really liked this one, but if you are a hypochondriac, I would suggest skipping every other chapter. :) A vampire book where the vamps are parasites, as well as a biology lesson on the pros and cons of parasites. Now I need to go and read a lot more Scott Westerfeld.
OMG!!!!! This was an awesome book. It was sexy, intense, suspenseful, funny, and chock full of science. It didn't in any way follow the cliches of vampire stories. If there's a sequel, I might not read just so it won't ruin the great experience of reading Peeps.
Peeps is the story of Cal, a young man who is a carrier of a parasite that causes vampirism. This parasite is spread through sexual contact and saliva. Cal works for the Night Watch, a centuries-old institute that hunts down out of control peeps.Peeps stands for parasite-positive, people who have be...
