Peggy Dymond Leavey has been writing all her life, but it was only after her three children were in school that she began to take it seriously. She has written for magazines, newspapers and has contributed to three books of local history. She was for many years a librarian, a job she loved because it kept her surrounded by books. Her novels for young readers (she has nine to her credit) have been nominated for the Silver Birch Award in the Ontario schools. She has also been shortlisted for the Manitoba Young Readers' Choice Award, the Arthur Ellis Award, and the Canadian Library Association's Book of the Year for Children. Her recent biography about Laura Secord was shortlisted for the 2013 Speaker's Book Award. Peggy lives in Trenton, Ontario.
