The bestselling phenomenon of the Dollanganger family saga continues as the children who escaped the attic build new lives, haunted by their tragic past. Their captivity in their grandparents' attic is finally over. But revenge is a torment they cannot escape...The Dollanganger children are trying to rebuild their lives after suffocating for so long in the terrifying darkness of the attic. The siblings must put aside their past and learn to love and dream again, in order to find their rightful place in the world. Still, dreams of happiness and success are easily crowded out by thoughts of vengeance. Cathy is determined to make those responsible for destroying their childhood pay, from the grandmother who tormented them to the mother who abandoned them. Disturbing, lavishly written gothic romance at its finest, Petals on the Wind is the second book in the best-selling Dollanganger saga, still as engrossing today as it was when it first appeared.

Sadly, this wasn't the first VCA book I ever read (I started off with the Cutler family series) but when I finally got around to Flowers in the Attic, I was not disappointed. It is easily one of the best books I have ever read. The drama, the intrigue, the suspense... I have read this book several t...
This book was horrible, I'm actually appalled at how highly rated this trainwreck of a sequel is. You'd assume in a book full of characters I'd have felt an attachment to more than just Carrie. I believe in a way that's the main reason I pushed through this crap. I had to know what happened to th...
I guess I liked this book as a preteen. I kinda vaguely remembered parts of it. I actually really liked the remake lifetime movies they made recently too. This book as an adult though not so much. It's just ugh so bad in so many ways. The Sexism, the narcissism, the redundancy.
Holy guacamole.I gave four stars to Flowers in the Attic, because apparently I'm shallow and weird. So it was kind of a relief to find myself thinking "This is OFFENSIVELY bad" on a regular basis as I read the sequel. (It only earns two stars because of the ending -- see below.)How offensive?Let's s...
Book two is even more sketchy and creepy than book 1! Cathy starts having sex with Paul who is her GUARDIAN, who's last wife went insane, killed their son, and is in a mental institution. And then she marries that cocky dancer, Julian who abuses her and eventually commits suicide because he couldn't...
