Audience: Middle School Format: Hardcover/Library A sixteen-inch pizza, fresh from the oven, is a thing of beauty. - first sentence So, that opening line tells you a great deal about this book, but not the heart of it. David loves competitive eating, both watching it as a sport and doing it hi...

Has a good hook, likeable characters with flaws, not too long, attractive cover. Perfectly serviceable middle grade novel.

Rash is placed in the United Safer States of America, where everything is safe and nothing is fun. Though it's not so bad for those who grew up there as they have nothing to compare it with. In the United States today people seem to be so dramatic/worried about everything, this is a world where the...

How to Steal a Car is one of those books that sounds like, at the very least, will be mildly entertaining. It wasn't.I struggled through this book -- me, eater of entire trilogies in a day -- because the main character was entirely unlikable and completely unrelatable on even the most basic of level...

This volume gets out of the mental-illness and religion sideplots and gets into the question of what the world should be. Obvioulsy, not everyone's answer is the same, but there's value in just asking the question. I'm pretty much begging Natasha daily to read this series.Library copy

This volume fills us in on Lia's backstory and gives Tucker a chance to put his adventures-to-date into perspective. There is danger, and fight training, and more adventure, and a really healthy dose of skepticism.Library copy

This is the first volume of a trilogy that involves pretty much everything. Tucker, a twelve-year-old boy in the midwest inadvertently discovers a time-travel portal over the roof of his house; adventure ensues. Although the cast grows significantly, the story most closely follows Tucker and Lia, a ...

A stunning novel about the fragility of reality. I loved every bit of it. Great characterization, and an amazing story. Hautman is one of the best YA authors out there: he connects with the minds of his readers and audience.

What a piece of....This "Time Travel" book really fooled me. It's a collection of bizarre and confusing scenarios put together human centipede style. I really wasted my time reading this one. The only thing I got from it was a splitting headache. This was recommended to me when I was in the mood for...

The Obsidian Blade could be a little confusing at times, but it was a very interesting story. I liked the idea of the diskos and being transported throughout places in the past and future. I wish the book wouldn't have ended when it did, but I look forward to reading book 2 when it's released this s...
