One way or another I've learned a lot about how government and politics works; from the inside. After a few decades in diplomacy, law and trade negotiations I quit government to find some new - mostly harmless - pursuits. I wrote a few books on commission from the World Trade Organization (Amazon seems to have some of them) and consulted to governments, business and international organizations. In the early years of the Web, I established and ran an Internet consultancy that applied some standard financial analysis to options for organizations considering investing in a 'web-presence' (once-upon-a-time it seemed like there was a choice). We also built e-commerce sites from scratch using our own software suite. I got out of that business just before the 'Dot Com' crash around the turn of the century. But I retained my interest in the technical side; one of my hobbies."Cloud of Lies" - which I wrote in 2009 - is the product of both my experience of governments, around the world, and of the technical side of the web. It's fiction of course. But not in every particular. In fact, it has turned out (in 2013) to be remarkably prescient. The 'Emperors' mentioned in the book are just as horrible and deceptive as portrayed there (maybe more-so).I've also started a project to record (audio) the whole of Lord Byron's hilarious epic poem "Don Juan". The recordings are combined with specially commissioned illustrations and the text of the poem in a "read-aloud" e-book that, unfortunately won't run in any Kindle. But you can find a copy by visiting madbaddangerous.com.
