Peter Harris was brought up in England and studied classical Chinese and international relations at Oxford University. He worked for the BBC World Service, Amnesty International, Oxfam, the Ford Foundation, the Asia New Zealand Foundation and Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, before becoming a freelance aid consultant, writer, translator and scholar. He has lived in various parts of the world - Japan, India, China (for 7 years), the US, Indonesia, Cambodia, Kazakhstan and Myanmar (where he was a USAID consultant in 2014-2015). He now lives in Wellington, New Zealand.
