Lovely little Newbery Honor-winning picture book that had way more of an emotional impact on me than I expected. The dialogue felt a little stilted, but everything else was really, really good.
A fine story, well written and even somewhat engaging. Abandoned because there was simply too many other books that needed to be read at the time. My tween daughter loved it, and is still disappointed that I didn't make it past chapter 4.
