Peter Greenwood, Ph.D. is the President and CEO of Greenwood & Associates and Executive Director of the Association for Advancement of Evidence Based Practice. For many years he directed the RAND Corporation's Criminal Justice Research Program. He has published widely in the areas of violence prevention, juvenile justice, criminal careers, sentencing, corrections and law enforcement policy. He and several RAND colleagues pioneered the use of cost - benefit studies to measure the effectiveness of alternative violence prevention strategies. His most recent book about violence prevention, Changing Lives: Delinquency Prevention as Crime-Control Policy was published by the University of Chicago Press in 2006.Dr. Greenwood is a Fellow of the Academy of Experimental Criminology and has been recognized by the American Society of Criminology with the August Volmer Award, for his contributions to the field of criminal justice practice. He is also a past President and recipient of the Richard McGee award from the California Association of Criminal Justice Research and has served on the faculties of the University of California (Irvine), the University of Southern California, the RAND Graduate School, the Claremont Graduate School, and has served on the California Attorney General's Panel on Research and Statistics.He is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and holds a PhD in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University.
