Harry Hole book #9Jo Nesbo certainly can do plots but I found “The Phantom” to be less outlandish than some of his previous Hole novels. It is a story very hard to follow.“Violin” is the new synthetic drug: potent and plays havoc with Oslo’s population and its distribution is controlled by a Russian...

Harry Hole is trying to get Oleg, the son of the love of his life Rakel, from jail. Oleg was accused of killing Gusto. The story is fast, and pretty dark. As Harry is not working in an official capacity, he didn't have the resources that he used to have as a detective. Why Harry Hole fallen so...
I was fully prepared to give this more than two stars. The previous two books, The Snowman and The Leopard had gotten far-fetched and Harry was beginning to turn in to an absolute arsehole whom I no longer wanted to read about. This one starts out well and I enjoyed it right until the end, when I de...
Only the second of the Harry Hole books I've read. Ripping good read with a compelling secondary narration from the victim's pov, but the plot is almost overly crammed with goodies. Props to Nesbø for his dark sense of humor in several scenes.

But even if not for the insomnia, I would have wanted to have stayed up reading.I can't say much about this particular entry...
Another strong, dynamic entry from Mr. Nesbø - taking a bit of a turn from where it seemed we were headed, post-[b:The Leopard|6891433|The Leopard (Harry Hole, #8)|Jo Nesbø|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1359872182s/6891433.jpg|7112263], and instead allowing Harry to've recovered a bit. He's a change...
Is this the end of Harry Hole? Very cinematic. Not sure if I like the chapters from the victim's POV, but at least it's different. The pace is perfect, and there's a ton of little rewards for followers of the Hole series.
Harry Hole, former detective with Oslo police detective, has been away from the city for quite some time. He returns to the city in order to aid the son of his former lover. Oleg has been imprisoned on the charges of murdering a drug dealer. Though the murder weapon was never found, there are enough...
