Philip Dale Smith’s license plate says, “KDS FRN,” which is as close to “KID’S FRIEND” as the limited spaces allow. A parenting coach, Dale has spent a lifetime helping adults equip children to reach their full potential. He has been a founding director of youth camps in three states and Canada and has conducted “Every Kid a Winner” parenting programs nationally--speaking at schools, churches, civic clubs, other community groups, and on radio and TV. Smith is an award-winning children’s picture-book writer (six books), and with his daughter, Lisa Kay Hauser, co-authored three novels, including Turn Back Time, winner of the 2001 "Benjamin Franklin Award for Popular Fiction." In Toronto, Canada, he won “The World Championship of Public Speaking,” conducted annually by Toastmasters International. He and Mary Jo, his wife, live in Bowling Green, KY, with PowderPuff (their purebred bewolbasky dog, which Dale says looks like a “stretch-limousine red fox.” Her grandparents were a beagle, a basset, a wolf, and a husky).
