Phoebe Lapine is a 25-year-old food writer, caterer, and personal chef, born and bred in New York City, where she continues to live and eat. After graduating Brown University in 2007, Phoebe pursued global marketing at L'Oreal, developing women's fragrance brands for Ralph Lauren. To balance her day job with the warmth and satisfaction of food, in November 2008, Phoebe co-founded Big Girls, Small Kitchen, a food website for twenty-something cooks looking for user-friendly, affordable ways to navigate their kitchens, along with childhood best friend, Cara Eisenpress. The stories and recipes behind the girls' "sophomore year" in the real world will be captured in the upcoming cookbook, In the Small Kitchen, published by William Morrow on May 24th, with a foreword by Ina Garten, who's hit Food Network Show The Barefoot Contessa Phoebe's appeared on twice. On March 21st, Phoebe and Cara launched their second joint web venture: Small Kitchen College--a guide to cooking, eating, drinking, and living on and off campus, with recipes, tips, and tales generated by college students across the country. These days, Phoebe is happily cooking in her Flatiron apartment. She is accustomed to inviting four people over for dinner and having fifteen show up, and has learned to mete out her resources accordingly, mainly by putting anything and everything on top of a piece of toasted bread and deeming it crostini. She is a regular contributor for The Huffington Post, Serious Eats, and Shape Magazine. Her stories, recipes, and tales have also been featured on the web by Time Out New York, Saveur, Brides Magazine, Glamour, PBS, Design*Sponge, and Publisher's Weekly.
