Just couldn't get into the writing. I decided to look up news stories about the family instead.
This is a good one. A really fascinating look into not just the Pilgrim family, but the history and land politics of frontier Alaska. Kizzia is a thoughtful and compassionate storyteller, and makes the reader feel the plight of the Pilgrim children without ever veering into luridness or exploitation...
