This lacked a certain something. Some of Kyra's choices just made no sense to me. I was not overly enthused by the contemporary voice. Still, it is a fluffy, easy-going read. The romance was light and it was nice to see Ariana and Kyra's friendship. The pig was cute.
Poison was such great fun to read! It's a light fantasy that doesn't take itself too seriously and that's why it works. If this were a movie it would be categorized as a dramedy. In tone it reminded me a bit of Brightly Woven, another light fantasy that didn't take itself too seriously. I would have...
Poison starts off with our bad-ass heroine, Kyra, committing a B&E at the former residence she shared with fellow Master Potioners Ned and her ex-fiance Hal. She is on the run from the Queens Guard after a failed attempt to kill the future Queen Ariana, who also happens to be her best friend. Or was...
Poison by Bridget Zinn is a truly enjoyable little fantasy story. It has some great characters (and one AMAZING one) and was easily digestible all around. When push came to shove though, this book never really did anything to stand out and wow me. That's not to say that it's bad... but I did wish fo...
3.5 stars (more to 4)/I didn't realize the author had passed away until after I'd finished the book./A simple novel and a lovely adventure. I like Kyra.

I was so excited about Poison I couldn't let it languish in my TBR pile. With only a few days passing from it's library pickup to finished it's set a land speed record! It was worth it. Poison was right up my ally with humor and a more traditional fantasy setting. I adored the characters and could a...
*Genre* Young Adult*Rating* 4.0*My Thoughts*In a way, this is a painful review for me to write knowing that the author has since passed on, and there won't be any more sequels unless the family somehow manages to do the impossible and finds another author to recreate the same wonderful world and cha...
