So it's geared towards 4th graders, but I just can't resist a book that anthropomorphizes animals. And it's a cute little mouse! Who's tough - and she's a girl! - and she kicks ass! It was very enjoyable."I don't care," Poppy said aloud, making a fist of a paw. "I'll do it. I will."
I have a vague recollection of reading Avi's books as a child, but reading this one was just great! Avi's writing style is suspenseful, adventurous, thrilling and sprinkled with humour. I loved Ragweed's gangster voice and Ereth's strange expressions (what in bug's breath are you doing?).
My favorite thing about this book is that my neice gave it to me for Christmas. However, even if it isn't a Christmas present from your neice it is a well written small tale of a brave young mouse.
