I was only made aware of Cornwell's existence sometime last year. But I didn't consider trying her books until this month when I was wandering through my local library trying to find a fiction book to check out. I'd already skimmed through her Twitter and noted she spent a lot of time getting hands ...

4.25Ok, that book was a very pleasant surprise and I find the fact that it has been written in 1990 one of the pluses I got reading it for the first time in 2016, because It was such a true and real journey to the past. This book was quite a thrilling detective story. I am a fan of Keith McCarthy an...

This was a hard, dark gritty tale and the beginning of a long series. Kay is an odd woman to me hard one minute and being a kid when dealing with her mom. Her partner Pete Marino easily is the character that will cause me to come back to the series.

Cornwell has worked as a crime reporter and for the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner of Virginia, so she certainly has the background to bring a sense of authenticity to her medical examiner heroine and first person narrator, Kay Scarpetta. Indeed, I think its the details of this world that rais...

12/3 - I've read this numerous times over the past 15 or so years, too many times to count in fact. But I hadn't read it recently enough to write a proper review my way, that is reviewing as I go, so after I joined GR I promised myself I would re-read in order to write a review more detailed than "...

My first read of a Patricia Cornwell mystery. I must say that I have read all the Kathy Reichs books and the Kay Scarpetta character does not compare to the one in the Reichs series. So, if you are looking for scientific forensic pathology, you should pass on the Kay Scarpetta character books.I wa...

Really enjoyed this. Suspect I didn't mind the technical chunks as they are processes that I've done in uni. Well written and good twists and turns. No chance that you could work out the killer on your own though.

Meh. I was expecting better, since I know how popular this series is.

A fairly good book, my only complaint is that the ending is rushed and then the reader gets filled in on a lot of the back story.
