A book that was well written but one I did not enjoy very much. Characters that just continued throughout the book as unsympathetic just made reading this a chore and I struggled to finish. I guess I am not the reader that Mark Lawrence was trying to reach.

Prince Jalan Kendeth, is the third son, tenth in line to the throne. He is self-described as a liar, cheat and coward who is nine parts bluster and one part greed, has a gift for lying and sounds the least convincing when he tells the truth. He’ll be the first to run and leave everyone in the dust...

Yet another book featuring an Arrogant, Swaggering Shitkicker, though this one doesn't have a heart of gold. All is well until one day Jalen finds himself fleeing for his life from an opera house (surprisingly, it wasn't t...

And I got it. Epic fantasy in a brilliant world. Dark and sinister. But also a lot more light-hearted than the Thorn-triology. Some banter, humor and the worst-best hero ever. It felt quite long and substantial - and other than with the Prince of Thornes I am not sure I want to read on, as Jal's...

This is a purely subjective low rating - the book is well written, and will no doubt appeal to quite a few people who aren't me.Unfortunately, I found the world building confusing (are we in the middle ages or after the apocalypse), the main character whiny and annoying, the magic system poorly fles...

Really enjoyed this one. I might like Jorg better, but two awesome new characters with plenty of potential... yes please.
