A poem is a miracle. And so, I am a miracle-maker.In my creative work, I seek to bridge gaps between self and other, author and reader, stasis and change -- as an explorer of worlds within & around. I aim to inspire an emotional reaction, dialogue, a conversation.A few facts:I won a Social Service Excellence Award for my community leadership to end violence against women. My debut book of poems, Terrain Tracks (New Rivers Press, 2006), won the Many Voices Project prize and was nominated for the Asian American Writers' Workshop Members' Choice Award in 2007.I foster community and kindle beauty @PurviPoets and purvipoets.net.I love to dance & blend arts.I believe in justice: http://delirioushem.blogspot.com/2010/05/to-love-to-justice-of-heart-ruminations.htmlI love science, gardens, and ghazals.I still write poems by hand -- especially while traveling on the NYC subways.I love radio and interviewing people/the art of conversation.I'll close with a poem tweet: The wings of possibility open in the quietest of corners: listen to the tight hum of your own no to crack a space of yes.
