I'm a professor of political science at Caltech, where I've been on the faculty since 1992. Prior to that, I studied political science at Carleton College with Steve Schier, Paul Wellstone, and Gary Wynia. My graduate work was at Duke University in political science, where I worked closely with John Aldrich, Bob Bates, John Brehm, and Peter Lange. My early research and writing was on political behavior, especially campaigns, elections, and voter learning. After the 2000 presidential election, when I became involved in the work of the Caltech/MIT Voting Technology Project, I've become an expert in voting technology, election administration, election fraud, and post election auditing.Throughout my career, I've focused as well on statistics, political methodology, and data science.
