Randall J. Stephens is a Reader in American Studies and History at Northumbria University. He was an editor of Historically Speaking (2006-2014) and is associate editor of Fides et Historia, Stephens is the author of The Fire Spreads: Holiness and Pentecostalism in the American South (Harvard University Press, 2008). In 2011 the Belknap Press of Harvard University Press published his book, The Anointed: Evangelical Truth in a Secular Age, on conservative evangelical experts, co-authored with Karl Giberson. He is currently working on a book titled The Devil's Music: Christianity and Rock since the 1950s (under contract with Harvard University Press). In 2008 Stephens was named a Top Young Historian by George Mason University's History New Network. He was a Fulbright Roving Scholar in American Studies (Norway) in spring 2012. Since 2013 he has been an Organization of American Historians Distinguished Lecturer.
