Randy lives in Alabama and loves to read, write, draw, and cook for his family. His love for books started many years ago, when he was in high school. He started working in the publisc library durign his senior year in high school and was hired on staff, after graduation.Randy worked in the library for 10 years. He tried to get them to transfer him to the Children's Department, but the administrator wanted him in Circulation and later Media. He has always loved Children's books and one of his favorites is "The Wonderful Flight to the Mushroom Planet."At the library, he became friends with Lanelle, Sunny, Tom, and others. They have kept that friendship and all still work at the library, except for Randy. He works in a local high school in the special education department. Most people would never guess by looking at Randy that he was born with Polio. Perhaps this was also one of the "keys" in his life that slowed him down and forced him to look at life from a different perspective. As a result, he has always said that a person can always do more than they think and he also developed one of his favorite phrases: "I would rather shoot at something and miss than never to shoot at all." Randy had a craft book published by Plaid Enterprises a number of years ago. It was titled "Paper Ribbon Birdhouse Village." It did enter into a second printing, but just like everything else, fads come and go and the paper ribbon craze came and went.He had a short story selected last year for a horror magazine in the UK. It was titled "Soap Sally," and was built around a childhood fear. The story was printed in Morpheus Tales.Randy both wrote and illustrated the story of "Sleepytown." It is about a little boy, named Zander, who is never scared to go to sleep at night. He knows he will always be safe in Sleepytown. The inspiration for the character is in fact the little boy in the picture with Randy. That little boy is Zander and the story of being scared to go to sleep is true.Randy is currently working on several other stories and he is in the process of writing a 'Tween novel about a young boy who is a vampire. After over a year of research, Randy finally decided to "bite the bullet" and start his own publishing company. It is appropriately named "SleepytownPress."He has just published a Children's Book for Jerilyn Ito of Hawaii. Her book will be available, soon. It is titled "Finding Our `Ohana."Sleepytown Press will be publishing its first novel soon. It is a 'Tween novel titled "The Wizard of Balalac" by Fran Orenstein. You can learn more about Sleepytown as well as Sleepytown Press at www.sleepytownpress.weebly.com.
