Harriet is anachronistic and troublesome but also amusing, rational (more or less^^) and above all stubborn in her love for the Beast. Gideon is a romantic hero. The mystery aspect is well done. All in all I enjoyed reading this book.
★★★★½ Okay, Anne Flosnik, the narrator, is really getting into this one on the various accents. What a riot! This one still holds up after all these years. Has everything and the kitchen sink in it and still manages to be orginial. I love that, just when I thought it was done, it had chapters and c...
★★★★½ Worth a re-read, so I thought I'd try it on audio. Okay, Anne Flosnik, the narrator, is really getting into this one on the various accents. What a riot! This one still holds up after all these years. Has everything and the kitchen sink in it and still manages to be orginial. I love that, just...
Quick was watching Scooby Doo and was all, "I think I'll write a romance novel."The plot is loosely about some pirates using a cave as a super secret location and our leading characters foiling them. Also, the leading lady is a lot like Velma; geeky and unflappable and cool. Staying on the geeky t...
I've read quite a few Amanda Quicks (as well as Jayne Ann Krentz and Jayne Castle books), and after awhile, they do tend to blend. This one has always stood out for me. The scarred (but very alpha) hero, the homely but spirited heroine, murder, scandal and fossils. Yep - the heroine loves fossils, t...
This one almost caused me to give up on Amanda Quick. Couldn't even finish this one, even though it's one of her highest-rated books. The heroine was supposed to be "spunky", I guess, but she just came across as a dimwit with an emotional age of 12 and behaviour to match (she's supposed to be 25 yea...
I mostly gave up on the romance genre already, but I'm still giving it chances, just to be fair. The Smart Bitches (www.smartbitchestrashybooks.com) talk about romance as a genre that can be "intelligent, savvy, feminist and fabulous", and about how a large contingency of people don't like the genre...
This was quite a fun read, Harriet Pomeroy is 25 years-old, her father is dead but she and her sister with their companions live in the Rectory. She is annoyed when what appears to be smugglers or thieves invade her fossil-hunting space and she summons the lord of the manor, Gideon Westbrook, Visco...
