3.5Beautiful short stories written by the exceptional good author L. M. Montgomery. The places she describes are beautiful and yet so familiar. All her characters, except for one, are kindred spirits. They are all nice, lonely fellows with honest, big hearts, who go thru hard times in their lives un...

Since LM Montgomery is just the best author in the world, no surprise that these short stories were good. True, I like her other short stories from Chronicles or Blythe are quoted much more, but these stories were mainly nice because the characters were all kindred spirits. My favorite one may be the...

The feeling could be love, hatred, revenge.. most of them are about love, that love that is loyal, sweet, almost innocent, just as expected in a LMM story. One of th...

It is so hard to say/think/write this, but I am a bit disappointed with this collection of stories. I am a hardcore fan of LMM and I know she was an exceptional writer, no doubt in that area. No big surprises here, but still a very solid and entertaining collection of short stories.

I love reading books made up of letters or diaries, so this is right up my alley :) Also, there are a lot of really sweet and romantic stories in...

Among the Shadows is one of 8 volumes of Lucy Maud Montgomery’s short stories which were thematically compiled and edited by Rea Wilmshurst. As the title suggests the nineteen stories contained within this collection deal with ‘darker’ themes – from the supernatural and macabre to human vices, foi...

These are indeed darker and creepier tales than anything else Montgomery wrote. After reading them, I find myself wishing she would have written a novel along a similar vein. For their contrast with her other works alone, these are well worth a read.
