I'm not sure how much I actually like Charlaine Harris's writing, but I do have a soft spot for her books. I read all of the Sookie Stackhouse novels, and I was excited about the premise for this series: Aurora (Roe) Teagarden is a member of a true crime book club called Real Murders. When members o...

I appear to be hit or miss with Charline Harris. I love her Shakespeare series but the Sookie Stackhouse series, despite interesting aspects, I've never really warmed to. After listening to the first book in this series, I'm not sure where it will fall on that scale. Aurora Teagarden is a libraria...

I don't think in this entire year that I've read a book so quickly. Admittedly it's a short book at 202 pages but I devoured it. I love the main character; a simple librarian called Roe with a quirky interest in murder. I love the plot; a murder mystery with a recreated murder from the past. And I l...

Charlaine Harris is best known for the recent success of her Southern Vampire series starring Sookie Stackhouse, which was turned into the HBO series True Blood. But she has been an active, prolific writer for two decades. In addition to the Sookie Stackhouse books, Harris is the author of three o...

Aurora Teagarden is a librarian and belongs to a Crime Club called Real Murders, a group of people who meet once a month to analyse famous murders. It's pretty harmless until one of the group is found dead and all of the members are suspects. When more bodies start turning up, things start to get ...

This was a nice short book. I finished it really quick and it was an enjoyable read, but somehow I can't seem to bring myself to read the other books. I loved the sookie stackhouse series and I've read some of her other detective/murder mysteries and really enjoyed them.I think you can really tell t...

Reading REAL MURDERS hard on the heels of finishing DEADLOCKED, I am overwhelmed by how much Sookie and Aurora have in common. Aurora is definitely a bit more of a firecracker (quicker to take offense or speak her mind), but she shares the sweet practicality that makes Sookie so much fun to read. ...

3.5 stars. A good mystery that really kept me guessing -- not only did I have no clue about the identity of the murderer, I have no idea who the love interest is going to turn out to be! (Of course, knowing Harris there may eventually be three or four different ones.) Aurora is a little too much lik...
